On Friday, 7 May St Patricks College, Launceston Grammar and Launceston Mountain Bike Club hosted the 2021 AusCycling All Schools Mountain Bike Championships in Trevallyn, Tasmania. The event included an XCO race and a timed stage race for each age category.

36 schools with a total of 412 riders competed for points for their schools. In each aged category there were 46 U15M, 182 U17M, 32 U19M, 25 U15F, 35 U17F and 9 U19f. Schools came from all over Tasmania, some travelled 10 minutes, some travelled 3 hours, it was great to see that schools support their students to participate in a mountain bike event.

The students ranged from experience mountain bike riders to first time mountain bike riders! The three host associations received good news stories from the students, the stories always mention how supportive riders from other schools were and the day was full of good sportsmanship.

The last five years the Tasmanian All Schools Mountain Bike XC Championships shield, donated by the Launceston Mountain Bike Club has been awarded to St Patricks College, this year the shield went to Fahan School, which is an all-girls school! Fahan School is a Hobart based school and had 22 girls registered into the event.

Thank you to the three associations and the volunteers that hosted the 2021 AusCycling All Schools Mountain Bike Championships, without the event would not have been so successful.
