Over the weekend of the 29th & 30th of May, Mersey Valley Devonport Cycling Club hosted their annual Junior Mini Tour as well as the graded Sheffield Open Road race.

The first day of the tour was held in Sheffield, the Mini Tour started off with a flying start with stage one being a time trial, with each category completing a different distance. The second stage was a road race of the 2017 Junior Road Nationals Course! Riders took off in age categories, where we saw several sprint finishes, the crowd cheered and supported the juniors. Points were awarded to the placings, which then created a leader board for day 2 of the Junior Mini Tour in Gunns Plains.

Alongside day 1 of the Junior Mini Tour, was the Sheffield Open road race. The seniors rode in conjunction with the under 17s from the Junior Mini Tour, as they completed 4 laps of the 2017 Junior Road Nationals Course.

The day involved two stages, stage three was a hill climb and stage four involved a road race, each different age categories took on a different distance. The day ended with a celebration in the hall with a warm fire, yummy toasties, and prizes for the winners. Results can be found here.

Last year the winners of the junior tour were Sam Welsford, Matt Goss, Alex Jones, Amy Cure, Georgia Baker & Lucinda Stewart.
