Now that the dust has settled on the first-ever Super-Worlds (all the cycling disciplines’ World Championships in one place at one time) we want to take a belated moment to recognise the contribution of South Aussie athletes who travelled to Glasgow to represent Australia on the world stage, and what better time than before a weekend jam-packed full of racing across a bunch of disciplines right here in SA!
We were well-represented among all of the cycling disciplines, from BMX Challenge to Road to Track to Downhill and Para-Cycling (Road & Track), and we can be proud of the performances of every single one of our South Aussie athletes.
Just a few highlights (and there were plenty of highlight-worthy performances!) included:
Jayden Bradbrook (Cross Keys BMX) winning a World 1 plate in 11 Boys BMX Challenge (for the uninitiated, that means he won!) and Penelope Blackwell (Happy Valley BMX) with a W2 plate in 9 Girls
Four Silver medals on the track to SA athletes Alex Manly (Madison), Matt Glaetzer (Team Sprint, Kilo), Leigh Hoffman (Team Sprint), and Darren Hicks (Para MC2 IP)
Darren Hicks’ Silver medal in the Men’s C2 Road Time Trial to go with his Silver from the IP on the track
You can go through the many, many news articles about Super Worlds over at the AusCycling Glasgow Event Hub, and while some of the athletes listed below are still overseas or on the international racing circuit, you can also see a handful of them in action racing this weekend! The 2023 Hutsix BMX State Championships are taking place at the Sam Willoughby BMX Facility on Majors Rd in O’Halloran Hill hosted by Cove BMX, Inside Line DH MTB Club are hosting the SA Downhill State Champs at Willunga, and the Cervelo Super Series heads to Kadina and Moonta this weekend to race the Copper Coast Cup. Make sure you get out to something this weekend – there's plenty of bike racing to go around!

Honourable mentions to all of the athletes representing Australia who came up in other states (and are members of interstate clubs) but call SA home!
