The AusCycling Mountain Bike National Cup aims to be accessible to all riders by providing local opportunities while recognising the importance of State/Territory and National competition.

The National Cup is designed to encourage participation and recognise individual rider achievements across the disciplines of:

  • Cross-Country (including stage races and short course)

  • Downhill

  • Marathon

  • Gravity Enduro

  • E-MTB

Every Australian Mountain Bike race are classified into one of four categories determined by the standard of the event. These four (4) categories are:

  • Bronze: Club/Emerging Events (formerly Tier 3)

The AusCycling Mountain Bike National Cup is a series of events where riders can earn points at Platinum, Gold and Silver levels. Throughout the season, which runs from 1 January to 31 December, riders will add their best eligible results from up to twelve (12) races towards their MTB National Cup points tally.

By offering different levels of competition, with corresponding course design and technicality, events will align with rider development pathways.

Gold events will be limited and scheduled appropriately to form a national level series of events.

Where possible AusCycling will work with event organisers to achieve UCI listing for Gold events.

Please note this should be read in consultation with the AusCycling Technical Regulations both General and Mountain Bike specific

Check the AusCycling events calendar for upcoming events, and also stay tuned to your local State or Territory Facebook/Webpage pages for details of Club events as they are determined.

The National Cup categories are based on a riders age as at the 31 December 2022. The National Cup will recognise rankings based on UCI category age categories (i.e. U19, W2, M5) as per the participant’s age at the 31 December in the year of competition.

Participants may have both an elite ranking and age-group ranking for the National Cup year if they have competed in each category.

Riders in any applicable age category may elect to race in the Elite Category for any event throughout the year, however they will only earn National Cup points for their elite category ranking from that event. These points cannot be merged into one category at a later date.

Events are required to use UCI Categories where possible; this is mandatory in Gold and Platinum listed events. Categories may be combined (Masters 1-3, Master 4+ etc) based on individual event requirements or due to low category numbers.

AusCycling will recognise the following categories in the MTB National Cup for each discipline:

    Categories

    • Platinum: National Championships - Eligible Riders receive 2.0 x points as per the points table
    • Gold: National Events - Eligible Riders receive 1.5 x points as per the points table
    • Silver: State Championships - Eligible riders receive 1.5 points as per the points table
    • Silver: State Events/State Series - Eligible riders receive 1.0 points as per the points table
    • Bronze: Club Events - Eligible riders receive 0.5 points as per the points table
