Riders from every NT BMX club raced for double points at Nhulunbuy BMX Club last weekend for Round 5 of the 2021 HutSix NT BMX Series.
The 7 round Series is the biggest the NT has ever seen and with the final two rounds quickly approaching at the end of this month, it was all to race for in the Gove Peninsula.

One class that’s shaping up for a nail-biting finish is the 8 boys class with Jingili BMX’s Finlay Roe and Oliver Tyrrell going wheel to wheel with Satellite City’s Levi Tiedeman to claim the title of overall Series Champion.
It was Oliver Tyrrell who won 4 of his 5 motos to finish 1st on the night and propel himself to second on the overall standings, just 34 points behind Finlay Roe in 1st and 24 above Levi in second.
Be sure to keep an eye on how this one finishes in the final two rounds in the Red Centre!

Another race that had the impressive Nhulunbuy grandstand roaring was the merged 30-34 cruiser class. Satellite City Coach and first year rider Alex Thomas lined up on the gate with NT Team Coach Nicky Thomson, NT State Advisory Council Chair Brad Bellette and local riders Mathew Elborough and Rhys Yerbury. Nicky Thomson’s experience paid off in the end as she done enough to hold off stiff competition from Thomas and Yerbury who both put on impressive displays to win motos on the night.
The double points earned by Bellette, Thomson and Thomas put them all in a great position in the overall rankings of their respective classes ahead of the final two rounds.

Have you competed in a minimum of 3 Series rounds so far? You can still make the 5 rounds required to qualify for overall Series awards of a medal for 1st -3rd and a presentation plate for 1st-8th.

Entries for Round 6 at Barkly BMX on September 26th and Round 7 at Red Centre BMX on September 29th are now open.
