Where will your next race take you? From the Snowy Mountains to Victoria’s High Country and Western Australia’s south coast, the 2027 downhill mountain bike racing calendar offers plenty of reasons to pack the bike and head to your next downhill event.

From National Series rounds to State Championships and club-hosted series, here’s a selection of downhill MTB events across Australia to inspire your next race weekend, whether you’re staying local or taking your downhill season interstate.

New South Wales: make tracks for Thredbo and Awaba

Cannonball MTB Festival, Thredbo

Thredbo’s alpine trails are the backdrop for Cannonball MTB Festival in February, bringing riders together for racing and celebrations on and off the mountain. The Australian Open Downhill is a highlight of the broader gravity program, giving downhill racers a chance to take on Thredbo’s Cannonball Downhill course. Gather your crew, race in the Snowy Mountains and watch the action between your own runs. The alpine village adds to the atmosphere, making this a mountain bike trip with lots happening beyond the finish line.

The third round brings riders from across Australia to the NSW Hunter region, with national series points on the line and a fresh challenge after the opening rounds at Mount Buller and Kooralbyn. For NSW riders, it’s a national racing opportunity closer to home; for visiting competitors, another destination to build a race weekend around.

Victorian Downhill Series, Mount Beauty

The Victorian Downhill Series heads to Mount Beauty in January, bringing riders together for Round 4. The penultimate round combines the atmosphere of club-hosted racing with the stakes of a season-long series, as riders chase their next result before the finale. With the High Country town as your base, it’s a chance to make a weekend of the racing and enjoy some time away with your riding crew.
