The countdown to the 2027 AusCycling Mountain Bike National Series is on, with entries opening for both Round 1 of the Downhill Series and the first four rounds of the XCO Series on November 11.
The AusCycling Downhill (DH) National Series will be raced over four rounds across four states, starting down Mt Buller in Victoria from February 5–7 before heading to Queensland's Kooralbyn Valley from February 26–28.
Round 3 travels to Awaba in New South Wales on April 2-4, with the series concluding in Nannup, Western Australia on April 16–18.
With a brand-new downhill trail on offer, it shapes as the perfect location for the season finale and the crowning of National Series champions.
The AusCycling Cross-country Olympic (XCO) National Series will feature six rounds across three venues, with double-headers in Lysterfield in Victoria on February 5–7, Mt Stromlo in the Australian Capital Territory from 19-21 February 19– 21 and Grandchester’s Hidden Vale Adventure Park in Queensland April 9–11.
A cross-country short track series will accompany the XCO series, with two UCI Continental Series rounds at Mt Stromlo offering valuable UCI points earning opportunities on home soil.

AusCycling Head of MTB Events, Lukas Matys, said the MTB National Series continues to build momentum, with strong interest from clubs and event organisers helping shape the 2027 calendar.
“We've worked closely with clubs to build a season that genuinely tests all riders, from elite athletes to those pinning on a race plate for the very first time, while showcasing the diversity of Australian trails,” he said.
“We’re excited to take downhill coast-to-coast, from Awaba’s technical rock gardens to a new finale trail in Nannup.
“XC features Lysterfield’s 2006 Commonwealth Games course and Hidden Vale’s private trails, with venues near major cities for easier travel. Mt Stromlo’s double header offers crucial Continental Series points for international rankings.

“Connor Wright, Tilly Boadle and Ryan Gilchrist’s world titles this year are three major indicators of the depth of homegrown talent, but this series isn’t just for pros. If you’re ready to move beyond local trails, make 2027 your first national series experience.”
Mark your calendar, start planning your season and get ready to race.
