AusCycling, is pleased to offer the Women and Girls Specialisation Coaching course.

Delivered via webinar meeting starting at 1200hrs AEDT.

Part of the strategic development of cycling must focus on growing participation by women and girls.  In this area, the specific focus is providing opportunities for coaches to develop their knowledge in building safe and positive environments for developing female athletes within cycling. The Women and Girls course starts with a foundation leading to a conclusive grounding in this space.

The course will be delivered via a full day webinar workshop to provide insight and knowledge into women and girls participation in cycling, involve participants working in focus group discussions and build a specialisation toolkit which will assist them to grow female participation in cycling.

Women and Girls represent 50.2% of the Australian population yet the membership of AusCycling and other cycling organisations around the world reflect a heavily skewed to male demographic.

Understanding what motivates, drives and facilitates successful involvement in the female cycling population is the key learning objective for this course. The participant will gain an insight and confidence in coaching women and girls to support increased participation for leisure or competition.

The 5 hour course explores:

  • The demographic of the female rider population
  • Individual athlete planning
  • The development of training
  • Athlete health and wellbeing
  • The current environment for women and girls in sport

To attend this course you must hold a current accredited Level 1 or greater cycling coach qualification.

*Note: this course is open to members of AusCycling. Members of other UCI recognised National Federations may also participate.
