Roadside in 2027: Australian road cycling events to watch

From national titles in Perth to WorldTour racing and the ProVelo Super League, find your place roadside for a season of road cycling.

Australia’s 2027 road cycling calendar offers lots of opportunities to watch racing in person, from the national championships to international events and the ProVelo Super League. Whether you follow the sport closely or are heading to your first race, here are some road cycling events to add to your calendar.

Watch the green and gold decided at Road Nationals

Perth, WA | 6-10 January 2027

The 2027 Westbridge Funds Road National Championships bring Australia’s best riders to Perth to contest the national titles. Across time trials, criteriums and road races, there are different ways to follow the action and see what it takes to win the green and gold.

If you’re new to watching cycling, the criteriums in Northbridge on Friday 8 January are a good place to start. Riders race multiple laps of a short street circuit, giving you repeated opportunities to see the bunch, follow attacks and watch the race develop.

The road races follow on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 January, taking riders through Kings Park, alongside the Swan River and into Perth’s CBD.

See the WorldTour at the Tour Down Under

Adelaide and regional South Australia | 16–24 January 2027

The Tour Down Under brings international road cycling to Adelaide and regional South Australia, with the men’s stage race running from 19 to 24 January and the women’s race from 22 to 24 January.

With stages across Adelaide and the surrounding regions, there are plenty of opportunities to see the world’s best riders up close.

Cadel Evans Road Race 2024

Head to the coast for Surf Coast Classic and Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race

Geelong and the Surf Coast, VIC | 27–31 January 2027

The Surf Coast Classic and Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race bring international riders to Victoria for five days of cycling around Geelong and the Surf Coast.

The program starts with the women’s Surf Coast Classic in Torquay and the men’s race from Lorne to Torquay, before the elite women’s and men’s Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race events around Geelong and the Surf Coast.

It’s a great opportunity to combine a day watching the racing with a trip to the coast.

Follow Australia’s emerging talent in the ProVelo Super League

Across six states and territories | Various weekends, January–March 2027

The ProVelo Super League brings elite women’s and men’s racing to six states and territories from January to March. Follow Australia’s emerging talent through stage races and established classics, including Melbourne to Warrnambool, the Tour of Tasmania and Grafton to Inverell.

The Tour of Canberra returns in 2027 with four stages from 26–28 February, before the season concludes with Q Tour in Queensland’s Moreton Bay region from 19–21 March. With rounds across the country, there are plenty of opportunities to watch the racing close to home or make a weekend of it with friends or family.
