The 2021 AusCycling Track State Championships - WA were held over the weekend of January 29 - 31 at Midvale’s Speed Dome in Perth, with the inaugural championships under the AusCycling umbrella attracting a field of 100 of the state’s best.

In great signs for the future, the Championships was well supported in the under 15 and 17 ranks, with X-Speed racing cyclist Sam Washington setting a national individual pursuit record (2 minutes 26.542 seconds) in the under 15 men’s category.

Tokyo Olympic track sprint and reigning sprint national champion Matt Richardson impressed on home soil by winning the sprint championship. Richardson also set the fastest ever 200m flying TT at the Midvale Speed Dome (9.91 seconds).

National junior champion Dharlia Haines won her first elite title after transitioning from the under 19 ranks, with a time of 37.700 seconds winning her the 500m TT.

Other notable moments from the championships included former world champion Shane Perkins (Russia) and 1993 world sprint champion Darryn Hill.

Unfortunately, the Championships were cut short due to the health order imposed by the State Government.
