The AusCycling Advanced Coaching course is aimed at coaches who work with elite athletes competing in National Championships. In particular, this course provides the underpinning knowledge for coaching an emerging elite/young athlete who seeks to represent Australia at Junior or Under- 23 international events.
The course provides in-depth information on the physiology and physiological assessment of a cyclist, performance assessment and monitoring, sports psychology in cycling, advanced racing skills and race preparation, recovery techniques, and crisis management of the injured cyclist.

The AusCycling Advanced Coach course examines the areas of;
At the completion of the course, Advanced Coach will be able to plan, implement and evaluate training for emerging and junior elite riders. Manage nutrition, recovery and injury management strategies and plan and implement training camps and travel to major events.

The Advanced Coach course is a four and a half-day Face-to-Face (via Webinar) course. The course is hosted through virtual meetings over 3 consecutive weekends with a half day practical assessment in the form of a small research presentation to the group and a coaching panel on the final weekend.
This course is not discipline-specific however successful candidates will need to show competency in one nominated discipline. Coaches will be accredited in that chosen discipline.
An Advanced Coach operates under the discipline-specific remit, which outlines such items as instructor/rider ratios and the skills that can be taught based on the level of accreditation.
