This comprehensive course combines online learning modules with interactive face-to-face sessions for a well-rounded learning experience.
Course Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Hold a current AusCycling membership (minimum Lifestyle membership)
- Possess a Working with Children Check. Visit Play by The Rules to understand Child Safe requirements in each State and Territory.
- Hold a Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003/HLTAID011) as a minimum requirement.
- Complete Sport Integrity Australia’s Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport Induction on the AusCycling Learning Centre.
- Complete Sport Integrity Australia’s Clean Sport 101 course available on the Sport Integrity Australia website
- Completed Sport Integrity Australia’s Competition Manipulation and Betting course available on the Sport Integrity Australia Website
- Hold a current AusCycling Foundation Instructor Accreditation
- Have been an active AusCycling Foundation Instructor for over six months
- For MTB, have a minimum of 20 hours instructing logged
Course Structure:
- Pre-course online learning: Gain foundational knowledge at your own pace.
- One-day online classroom session: Explore intermediate coaching principles with other participants.
- Two-day face-to-face practical sessions: Refine your coaching skills under the guidance of experienced instructors (discipline-specific) or by shadowing a Development Academy coach
- Post-course workbook completion: Solidify your learnings and demonstrate your understanding.

Additional Information
- The AusCycling Development Coach Course is held twice a year
- Once you’re accredited in one discipline, you can accredit in another discipline by attending day 2 and 3 of that discipline’s face-to-face sessions.
- If you’re already a Mountain Bike or Road Development Instructor and want to upgrade to Development Coach, you must complete the pre-course online training and attend day 1 of the Development Coach course.
