Meier-Smith and Colthup claim Oceania downhill titles

Australian champion Luke Meier-Smith's winning ways continued after he claimed the 2026 Oceania Mountain Bike Downhill Championships and Round 2 of the AusCycling Downhill National Series in Toowoomba.

Meier-Smith dominated the elite men’s race, stopping the clock in 2:51.743 to claim his maiden Oceania title, three-and-a-half seconds clear of Zac Bradley-Hudson, with Carter Sloan in third.

The win came less than a month after the New South Wales rider added a fourth national championship crown to his tally.

Luke Meier-Smith produced a flawless run to win his first Oceania title.

In the elite women’s event, New Zealand's Kate Hasting was in a league of her own, claiming the title in 3:20.474. Silver went to Queensland's Sacha Mills, with Jessica Hoskin taking the bronze.

In the junior men's event, Oliver Colthup enjoyed the benefits of the home track with the Toowoomba product snatching the title ahead of his Kiwi rivals by just over a second.

It was two Oceania titles in a row for Indy Deavoll (New Zealand) in the junior women with Rebecca Sams (Australia) and Zuri Acheson (Australia) filling out the podium.

Round four of the Downhill National Series will be held at Willunga, South Australia in a fortnight's time.
