A 29-strong AusCycling Development Academy Track Team will race overseas next week at the YSD Track International Series in Malaysia.
The YSD Track International Series, being held from May 8–10, brings together emerging cycling talent from across the Asia-Pacific region at Velodrom Nasional Malaysia in Nilai.
Featuring strong representation from New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong and Malaysia, the event continues to grow as a key development opportunity for under-17 and under-19 athletes.
Of the 29 Australians, 23 will race in U17 events, with the remaining six lining up in U19 races.
The team will showcases spread of national talent, with riders selected from Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales and Queensland, highlighting the constant depth of emerging track cycling talent across the country.
AusCycling Track and Road Development Academy Manager, Brenton Jones, said the event "offers a valuable platform for young riders to gain international racing exposure".
"They develop tactical awareness and build independence, with learning opportunities both on and off the bike in a high performance team environment," Jones added.
