Two Aussies finish in top-10 at UCI Pump Track World Championships

Caroline Buchanan and Ryan Gilchrist have finished inside the top-10 at the Red Bull UCI Pump Track World Championships in Santiago, Chile.

Sixty-five riders from 21 countries made it to the Chilean capital for a chance to wear the coveted rainbow jersey.

Competition started off with a qualifying round where all registered athletes put down times, then the fastest 16 progressed to the next round and so it went until there were four athletes left.

Gilchrist put down a heater of a lap to qualify second heading into the final 16 while Buchanan would register the ninth fastest qualifying lap to move through to the Round of 16.

Gilchrist would finish 10th in the men while Buchanan took one step higher from qualifying to finish in eighth.

Switzerland's Von Niederhäusern came out on top in the women's category while Niels Bensink claimed the men's.
