Title honours go on the line for Marathon National Championships

Aug 11, 2022

The cream of Australia's cross-country marathon riders are making a bee-line for Wagga Wagga this weekend for the 2022 AusCycling Marathon National Championships.

The highly prized green and gold jersey is on the line across the elite and master categories.

The elite men's field is expected to be jam packed with talent, four-time Australia champion Brendan Johnston will be keen to get back the title after missing out on last year, which saw Cameron Ivory take the spoils.

Ivory will be back to defend his title he won in Dwellingup in 2021, but knows Johnston is in hot form after taking out not only the Gravel National title but also the Noosa Enduro 100km.Brendan Johnston Noosa Enduro

The elite women will see the likes of in-form Victorian Em Viotto who took out the Noosa 100km only a fortnight ago, Holly Harris, the 2022 Gravel National Champion and who last won the title back in 2019, as well as another former champion in Anna Beck.

Despite the recent heavy rains the track is expected to be in perfect condition for Sunday's race at the Pomigalana venue.
