National champ eyeing Melbourne to Warrnambool

Australian time trial champion Luke Plapp and road race silver medallist Kelland O’Brien (Inform TMX MAKE) will line up at the Powercor Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic on Saturday 13 February.

The Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic is Australia’s oldest and longest one-day cycling road race. The 2021 Classic forms part of AusCycling’s National Road Series and will take in 267 kilometres from Avalon to Warrnambool.

Plapp toppled the four-time time trial champion, Luke Durbridge of WorldTour squad Team BikeExchange, with a powerhouse performance to win the time trial at the AusCycling Road National Championships time trial in Ballarat last week.

Plapp and O’Brien, who claimed time trial bronze and who took silver only millimetres behind Cameron Meyer in the road race, form part of Australia's track team for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
