Nathan Mummery makes it eight straight at Trials National Championships
Apr 8, 2025

Nathan Mummery has claimed his eighth consecutive Elite Trials National Championships in a nail biter at Mt Stromlo in Canberra.
After spending the past 12 months concentrating on other disciplines Mummery’s victory was a evidence of his skill.
“It’s been a year where I’ve had to step back and focus on other areas like XCO and ultra-cycling, so to come back and win here is incredibly special," Mummery shared.
"I feel very lucky to come away with the win this year.”
The competition showcased Australia’s finest trials riders pushing the limits in a series of tough and technical sections.

The event featured not only the elite domestic talent, but also international riders, including Steve Rogers from England.
“It was a really close contest.
“The sections required consistency and precision, which made it tight between Steve and me.

Steve Rogers nearly caused the upset in the elite men.
“We both had very few mistakes in the early sections,” Mummery said.
“In fact, we had both only made two or three mistakes out of the first four sections. That’s when things got intense for me.”
The Victorian’s steady lead took a blow when a flat tyre in the fourth section caused a costly 30-point penalty.
That mishap placed him 10 points behind Rogers going into the final section, with Matt Harding hot on his heels.

“I probably needed perfect scores for the final three runs of section five to have a chance. But I kept my cool, stuck to my plan, and somehow managed to edge ahead of Steve by the end.”
Harding, who impressed with his pedal-up moves, and the resilient Rogers, who had his own flawless moments, made for a nail-biting conclusion.
In the end Mummery would claim the title by 30 points ahead of Rogers and Harding, who took the bronze.
National titles were also crowned in the expert, sport and novice categories.

Titles were also won in three other categories
