Marathon National Championships locked in for August

Wagga Wagga will host the 2022 AusCycling Marathon National Championships for the very first time when the nation's best endurance cross-country riders head to the Riverina in August.

More than 400 competitors are expected to compete for the green and gold jersey on the 13-14 August 2022 at the Pomingalarna venue.

Kipp Kaufmann, AusCycling Executive General Manager - Sport was excited on the confirmation of the location for the Championships.

“The commitment to cycling and events from Wagga Wagga council is second to none. We are pleased to be working with such a great partner to deliver a high-quality event for all participants”

“The event is expected to attract the top talent from throughout Australia to win the green and gold jersey.”

MTB Wagga President David Reid said the club can't wait to showcase the trails at the venue for Australia's best.

Mayor of the City of Wagga Wagga Cr Dallas Tout said local tourism and hospitality industries would benefit from a major event coming to Wagga Wagga.

“This is great news for the city, we continue to attract national level sporting events and this is a credit to Council staff and AusCycling for working together to finalise these events to take place at this fantastic new facility,” Cr Tout said.

The venue will also host a Gold XCO MTB National Cup round on the 29-30 October 2022.

Information regarding opening of entries, categories and course maps will be released shortly.
