Joel Marsh (Happy Valley BMX Club) has won his first Superclass Men National Series title following the fifth and sixth rounds of the 2025 AusCycling BMX Racing National Series at Cross Keys BMX Club.
Marsh continued his hot run of form at the Adelaide double-header, dominating Saturday's racing to claim his fourth consecutive win of the season.
The 21-year-old looked a certainty to make that five on Sunday, only to crash in the last corner of the final, which opened the door for Matty Tidswell (The Cove BMX Club) to win his first round of 2025 and end Marsh's streak.
That streak was effectively the only casualty of Sunday for the green plate holder, with the overall crown mathematically clinched following the Saturday win, taking his points haul to 378, 22 shy of the maximum 400 in the best five results points system.
The new Superclass Men champion said he felt smooth and fast all weekend.
"I was able to be super consistent throughout both days and minimise mistakes, which lead to a very successful weekend for me taking the win on Saturday," Marsh said.
"Unfortunately Sunday didn’t end my way after holeshotting and leading the final up until the last corner where I came in a bit to low carrying too much speed and my front tyre washed out from underneath me on the exit of the turn.
"But being able to wrap up the National Series title before the final round feels great. It definitely takes a bit of pressure off my shoulders and allows me to shift all of my focus onto the National Championships for the week in Macarthur."
Tidswell has moved into second in overall points following his Sunday win and fourth-place finish on Saturday, with the latter his only finish outside of the top-three in all motos across both days of racing.
The 23-year-old's victory is just reward after being in the mix in all six rounds and finishing second in the first and third rounds.
Tidswell said he was "feeling strong on the bike at the moment" on his social media after the weekend.
Rounding out the Round 5 podium was Hayden Fletcher (Mansfield Mt Buller Cycling Club) in second, joined by a solid third-place finish for Matt Krasevskis (Pine Rivers BMX Club) in his first appeareance of the 2025 National Series.
Preston Murray (The Cove BMX Club) made it a club one-two behind Tidswell the following day for Round 6 and Sammy O'Grady (Bendigo BMX Club) picked up his first podium of the year in third.
That result has pushed O'Grady six points ahead of Fletcher in the battle for overall third ahead of the final round at Macarthur BMX Club in October before the 2025 GWM BMX Racing National Championships.
