Joe Brewer wins elite title at Observed Trials National Championships

Joe Brewer claimed the elite men's title at the 2026 AusCycling Observed Trial National Championships at the Oakleigh Motorcycle Club in Melbourne in March.

Wet and drizzly conditions proved extremely challenging, making the timber and log obstacles catch out even the most experienced riders.

Brewer, who is a member of the Fat Tyre Flyers was pushed all the way by old rival Andrew Dickey while Matthew Harding rounded out the podium in third.

Riders were tested across a series of demanding obstacles with little room for error, as they fought for the top step of the podium.

Joe Brewer perfectly balanced during the elite competition.

A single mistake on the first obstacle in section two decided the title as the 38-year old Brewer produced a calm and calculated ride.

Riders had to complete five sections of the trials course.

Only 40 points would separate the duo at the finish.

National titles were also crowned in the men's expert, sport and novice categories, while there were no competitors entered in the women's categories this year.
