Cameron Ivory, Izzy Flint clean sweep CX National Series rounds in Sydney
Jun 24, 2025

Cameron Ivory and Izzy Flint have made it a weekend of wins at the double-header rounds of the 2025 AusCycling CX National Series at Heffron Park in Maroubra.
The Elite Men’s race at Heffron Park featured a strong national line-up, with nine riders from five states and territories tackling the fast and dry "Fun n’ Flowy" course.
Among the starters were former national champion Chris Aitken, U19 national champion Campbell McConnell and former XCO champion Cam Ivory.
McConnell set a blistering early pace, forming a lead group with Aitken, Ivory, Larsson, and Chester.
By the end of lap one, only Aitken and Ivory remained in touch. A powerful move by Ivory on lap three dropped McConnell and opened a gap to Aitken, who steadily clawed his way back over the next 30 minutes.

The Tasmanian launched a decisive attack after the bell lap on the course’s paved section, pulling out a five-second lead.
He held off Aitken to win by eight seconds, while McConnell secured third, 1:28 back.
A small but quality field in the elite women with national champion Izzy Flint, former national series champion Miranda Griffiths and rising star Lillee Pollock taking to the start line.
A thrilling sprint finish between Flint and Griffiths headlined last year’s opener, and early signs pointed to a similar showdown in this year’s edition.
Flint, took charge from the start, controlling the tempo over the first two and a half laps. Griffiths, remained glued to the Tasmanian’s wheel through the course’s technical sandy turns.

Izzy Flint won both rounds in Sydney.
The race-defining moment came with just over two laps remaining.
Entering a sandy rut near the finish line, Flint maintained her line at the front, while Griffiths faltered slightly behind, suffering a gear slip.
By the end of the lap, Flint had carved out an eight-second lead, which she steadily extended through the final laps. She crossed the line 40 seconds clear of Griffiths to claim an emphatic victory.
Another compelling battle emerged between Flint and Griffiths for Round 4.
Racing on a more technical reverse layout of the Heffron Park course, Flint and Griffiths resumed their season-long duel, with Flint holding a narrow 2–1 edge heading into Sunday.
After trading early leads, the decisive moment came midway through the race when a remount error from Griffiths allowed Flint to open a race-winning gap.
The Tasmanian crossed the line 28 seconds clear to claim her third win of the series.
The U19 Women’s race, run concurrently, saw an exciting scrap for second between Lucy Allen and Alicia Reynolds.

Allen used her road and track power to edge away on the final lap, taking second by 21 seconds in one of the day’s most thrilling contests.
A similar field lined up in the elite men’s race with Ivory looking to make it a perfect weekend top of the podium.

Campbell McConnell impressed early, bunny hopping into the lead over the barriers and holding a narrow advantage through the opening laps.
He was joined by Ivory, Aitken, and Chester in a tight lead group until lap three, when Aitken surged into first with a clever inside line at the hairpin section.
However, a gear issue soon dropped Aitken to fourth, allowing Ivory to push clear and build a winning margin.
Aitken recovered strongly to move back into second, but couldn’t close the gap to Ivory, who secured his third consecutive series victory. Aitken finished 47 seconds back, with McConnell in third at 1:19.
In the Junior Men’s race, Hayden Vimpani dominated from the start, riding cleanly and catching several Elite backmarkers en route to victory over Miles Price and Benjamin Holmes.
The CX National Series resumes July 19–20 in Adelaide, hosted by Port Adelaide Cycling Club.
