Fearon and Freeman claim Round 4 of the Downhill National Series

Connor Fearon and Amelia Freeman took out Round 4 of the AusCycling Downhill National Series at Willunga, South Australia.

The Adelaide-based rider posted the fastest time in the elite men’s category during Sunday seeding runs, with Oscar Johnston and Andrew Hacquoil not far behind the former World cup racer.

Victorian Amelia Freeman recorded the quickest time in the elite women ahead of Sophie North to claim her first win in the series.

Riders enjoyed dry conditions during their morning practice runs.

Due to adverse weather conditions event organisers reverted to the morning seeding positions to crown winners across a number of categories.

That included the U19's which saw Zak Murphy and Rebecca Sams take top spot on the podium.

Masters riders got a chance to post a finals run with a break in the weather.

The final round of the series will be held at Awaba this weekend with the overall winners to be decided.

Patrick Ward holds a slim five-point lead in the elite men’s overall rankings, while Sacha Mills has a significant buffer over second-placed Freeman in the elite women’s standings.
