Explore the adventure hub of NSW at Mountain Bike Nationals

Feb 8, 2023

The Snowy Mountains is one of the most adventure and adrenaline-packed regions in NSW. Thredbo is your starting point of many epic hikes. If you prefer to explore the natural surrounds on two wheels, take your mountain bike and smash out some trails at nearby Jindabyne and Bombala, or try galloping through the bush with Thredbo Valley Horse Riding.

Rock climbers should head to nearby Jindabyne (for trad and bouldering) or Blue Lake (for top rope and bouldering), both of which have famous climbs. If you didn’t bring your equipment, K7 Adventures has guided climbs and hikes.

If you’re heading to Thredbo and looking to relax post championship, the area’s blue ribbon rivers and picturesque lakes are legendary in the fishing community. You’ll need a license for fly or line fishing, but if you’re without credentials Snowy Monaro Fly Fishing can guide you.

Wander the recently re-opened Yarrangobilly Caves, and don’t miss a dip in the beautiful outdoor thermal pool heated by a natural spring. If your muscles need to cool post-race, jump in the icy Thredbo River instead.

If you’re looking to celebrate the last night of the Championships, let it all out at Northeast Party House’s DJ set at the Alpine Hotel. It’s a free concert, so first in best dressed.
