Doye and Tucknott too hot at opening XC National Series rounds in Queensland

Harry Doye and Sarah Tucknott opened the XC National Series in style, sweeping the elite races across the opening weekend at Mt Crosby in Brisbane.

Tucknott controlled the women’s race from the opening sprint, riding solo in the heavy Queensland heat and never looking back. The Perth rider powered over the short, punchy climbs and stretched the gaps even further on the fast descents.

Elle de Noyer and Elizabeth Nuspan settled into a battle for the minor placings.

Round 2 followed the same script, with Tucknott backing up her win and showing the form that carried her to the overall title at Cape to Cape only a fortnight earlier.

Alanna Van De Hoef and Luca Turton finished in the medals.

In the men’s field, Victorian rider Harry Doye made the perfect start to his summer, taking a dominant double win.

The reigning Under 23 national champion controlled both races, showing strength on every part of the Mt Crosby course.

Harry Doye made a successful trip to Queensland for the opening two rounds.

Levi Dougherty and Aiden Leffman filled the podium behind him in Round 1, before Oliver Johnston broke through for bronze in Round 2.

In the junior races, Bendigo’s Alana Fletcher made her trip north count with two wins, while Canberra’s Oliver Grande proved the strongest in the junior men.

The series now moves south to Victoria, with Rounds 3 and 4 set for La Larr Ba Gauwa MTB Park near Harcourt on  December 13–14.
