Hayden Vimpani (Blackburn CC) didn't have it all his own way, but the 17-year-old has extended his series lead after Rounds 3 and 4 of the 2026 AusCycling Cyclo-cross National Series in Canberra.
The Victorian teenager won the elite men's race on Saturday and placed second on Sunday, adding to his victories in Perth earlier this season.

Only Nicholas Smith (Southern Highlands CC) could deny him the clean sweep, closing down a fast-starting Vimpani in Sunday's race before getting the gap and soloing to a victory of his own.

In the elite women's races, local rider Katherine Hosking (Canberra Off-Road Cyclists, pictured above) took back-to-back victories to leap to equal first in the overall standings, matching Western Australia's Zoe Davison, who did not compete.
Hosking was pushed on each day by Alana Fletcher (Bendigo Mountain Bike Club), who took a brace of runner-up places.
Rounds 3 and 4, hosted by Canberra Off-Road Cyclists, saw the National Series head to the Australian capital for the first time.
Overcast skies and spurts of rain could not deter riders across the categories from taking to the Mt Stromlo course.
Masters world champion Sharon Heap (Gold Coast MTB Club) and under-19 national champion Oliver Grande (Canberra Off-Road Cyclists) were among the riders who took part in their age groups, which ranged from 65-year-olds down to they youngest "Little Crossers" category.
The AusCycling Cyclo-cross National Series continues in Ipswich, QLD on July 11−12 before the final round, alongside the AusCycling Cyclo-cross National Championships, in Ballarat in August.
