However the New Zealand riders would claim top of the podium in the elite men and women, U23 men and junior categories.

In the elite women Rebecca Henderson (AUS) was unable to defend the title as she continued to battle with an ankle injury sustained ahead of the National Championships over a week ago.

The New Zealand native took control from the start of the six-lap race with Canberra’s Zoe Cuthbert (AUS) doing her best to stay on the wheel of the former Under 23 World Champion.

Maxwell crossed with a five-minute buffer to Cuthbert in second place.
