May 15, 2023

Tiffany Cromwell (Canyon –SRAM) and Tasman Nankervis (BMC Shimano) made it an Australian double at the latest round of the UCI Gravel World Series, SEVEN in Western Australia.

Around 1200 participants lined up for the race which started and finished in the small town of Nannup.

Riders faced 10 climbs which ranged in length from 1.2km to 4.5km long with gradients frequently touching on 20 percent.

Cromwell kicked off her gravel season with a dominant performance over the 125km course crossing the line in just under 5 hours and in a time which also saw her finish 26th overall.

"I was happy to be able to take out the win at SEVEN Gravel.

"It was a brutal and beautiful course and I felt strong all day and just kept pushing on the endless climbs. It was the perfect way to start my gravel season and hopefully it's the first of many wins this year on gravel."

Western Australian Cassia Boglio would claim the silver with Courtney Sherwell ensuring an all Australian podium in the women.

In the men the field included 2022 winner Adam Blazevic but it would be Nankervis who put daylight between himself and the chasing pack in the second half of the race.

An attack with 50km to go would see the Bendigo local ride all the way solo to an impressive victory in a time of 4:16:44.

Mark Chong claimed second with Nicholas Roche in third.

The series now heads to the gravel of Gatehouse Fleet in Scotland.
