Aussies bring home rainbows from Masters MTB World Championships

Three Australians have landed on the podium after magnificent performances at the 2026 UCI MTB Masters World Championships in Nevados de Chillán, Chile.

Barely a week since winning the masters 2 downhill national title at the GWM Mountain Bike National Championships at Mt Buller, Cameron Allonby arrived chasing back-to-back world crowns.

The Brisbane rider delivered over the weekend, taking out the Men 35-39 downhill title by three seconds to make it two in a row after his win in Cairns last year.

Cameron Allonby crosses for back-to-back downhill world titles.

Allonby wasn’t the only Aussie in the medals.

Orange Mountain Bike Club rider Michael Benson claimed gold in the Men 70–74 downhill, going one better than his silver in 2025.

Micheal Benson receives his rainbow jersey in Chile.

Meanwhile, in cross-country Olympic, Elizabeth Gray from Western Sydney Mountain Bike Club secured bronze in the Women 60–64 category.
