AusCycling welcomes two new Heads of Events

AusCycling is excited to announce two world-class additions to its Major Events team.
Lukas Matys: Head of Events – Mountain Bike & Cyclo-cross
Lukas comes straight from the global stage: his most recent role is as the Event & Venue Delivery Manager for the UCI Mountain Bike World Series with Warner Bros Discovery Sports, where he has been central to delivering world-standard events in downhill, cross-country and enduro.
Lukas’s work has shape set new standards in athlete experience, logistics, and venue operations.
In addition, Lukas is a former world champion in quadrathlon and a Czech national canoeing champion.
He combines his deep athletes’ insight with proven leadership across some of the world’s biggest events including the London 2012 Olympics, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, the European Games in Baku, and the UCI Track Champions League.
He has also led national event and technical strategies for a national sporting organisation at Triathlon Australia, making him uniquely placed to drive mountain bike and cyclo-cross forward in Australia.
Lukas will commence at AusCycling in October ahead of the 2025–26 mountain bike season.
Carlijn Kerdijk: Head of Events – Road & E-Sport
Carlijn brings more than a decade of events experience to AusCycling
She most recently led major participation events at Bicycle Network, including Peaks Challenge and Around the Bay. She has also managed operations across the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and multiple UCI World Championships (Wollongong 2022, Glasgow 2023, Zurich 2024).
With her expertise in course and sport management, safety operations and stakeholder coordination, Carlijn is set to elevate AusCycling’s road and esports programs.
She will join AusCycling in September ahead of the Junior and Masters National Championships in Wagga Wagga, NSW.
With Lukas and Carlijn on board, AusCycling strengthens its commitment to delivering world-class events that inspire riders, fans, and future champions alike.
