AusCycling publishes 2025 road calendar
Oct 23, 2024
Beginning with its marquee national championships and extending to over one hundred state and territory races, AusCycling’s 2025 road calendar will give cyclists and fans plenty to be excited about.
The calendar, announced today, presents a year-round range of cycling opportunities: from elite racing to grassroots competition to participation rides.
The season will start with a bang when the AusCycling Road National Championships head to Perth, moving to a new home for the first time in 18 years. There, our biggest cycling stars, including WorldTour pros and Paralympians, will race for the honour of wearing the green-and-gold jersey.
The event includes the Steadyrack Gran Fondo National Championships, which allows amateur riders to challenge themselves on the same spectacular course as their heroes.
The AusCycling Junior and Masters Road National Championships, meanwhile, will head to Wagga Wagga in NSW. The event will once again bring together under-15, under-17 and masters-aged racers to contest their national titles in late September.
Amid the international summer of cycling, which includes the WorldTour-level Santos Tour Down Under and Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, AusCycling will support the inaugural ProVelo Super League, a new domestic competition which takes the place of the AusCycling National Road Series between January and March.
Jeff Corbett, AusCycling’s Head of Events for Road & Esports, said, “AusCycling’s road calendar is full of exciting changes in 2025. One of the major highlights will be moving the national championships to a new location for the first time since 2006 – and to a capital city, no less, in Perth. That will be a fantastic way to launch into the summer of road cycling.
“We’re also delighted to take the junior and masters national championships to Wagga Wagga, a major regional city that has been investing in its cycling facilities and will be readily accessible to most competitors.
“The ProVelo Super League will be an important development in the domestic racing scene next year. We’re pleased to support the PSL in taking the national competition to another level.”
For junior under-19 cyclists, the BikeChain National Junior Road Series will return with three events in South Australia, Queensland and the ACT.
At the state and territory level, over 150 race days are listed across the calendar. These grassroots events include handicaps, time trials, criteriums, road racing series and more, plus seven sets of AusCycling State and Territory Championships.
Beyond Perth, gran fondo enthusiasts will have plenty to look forward to when the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships arrive in the Great Ocean Road region in October. The Tour de Brisbane will be Australians’ last chance to qualify for the event on home soil.
“Our hardworking staff and clubs continue to deliver a healthy and robust calendar of road events across the country,” Corbett said.
“From grassroots races to national titles to world championships, we’re looking forward to delivering a wide variety of experiences for our road community next year.”
