Series Requirements
Age and Membership Requirements
Riders wishing to participate in the 2021 Victorian Junior Road Series require:
AusCycling RACE ALL DISCIPLINE Membership*
*Temporary/trial memberships cover members for club racing only and can therefore are not accepted.
Interstate participation is encouraged in the series and riders are eligible for series awards.
Entry and Scratching Process
Individual entries for all events will be taken via ENTRYBOSS.
Entries generally open four (4) weeks prior to the event. Entries close at midnight on the Sunday prior to the event.
Riders in the J15 and J17 categories that haven’t raced in a Victorian Junior Road Series event are required to submit information to support the handicapper when entering (on the entry form).
Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of AusCycling.

Riders can scratch (with a full refund) from a race via Entryboss until entries close. A refund after the registration cut-off can be granted if a rider provides a medical certificate within 7 days of the event. Refunds for other reasons may be granted and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Categories
The following categories will be run as part of each Series event:
**Depending on the number of participants grade may be combined for racing but provided separate results.
Event organisers are free to add additional categories. AusCycling reserve the right to trial additional categories at certain events. These categories will not be eligible for Series Points.
Grading
Grading for J15 and J17 categories will be based and determined after Round #1 based on the results in both time trial and road races at the 2021 Alpe de Buffalo.
Riders that did not compete in the first round will be graded by the State Handicapper.
Riders who would like their grade changed must be approved by AusCycling.
AusCycling reserves the right to change a rider’s grade based on the performance of the J15 and J17 categories will have the right to request their grade however after the first event it will not change based on the type of course (e.g. hilly vs flat) unless it is changed by AusCycling.
Series Points
The following process will be used for the allocation of points towards the 2021 AusCycling Victorian Junior Road Series.
Points will be awarded for each event in the series (see table below)
Individuals will be able to accumulate points for their own ranking by placing at each event. Riders who DNF or are DQ are not eligible for points.
In case of a points tie the rider, who has had more wins (then second-place finishes and so on) will be ranked higher. If there is still a tie the placing in the most recent race/stage will determine the ranking.
Upgraded riders will retain 1/3 of their points (rounded)
Combined Women's categories: Where A and B grade are combined points will be awarded to the rider based on the overall standing however allocated to the category they are contesting.
After the final stage of the final VJRS event the person who has the highest overall points for their gender/age group will be awarded the VJRS Champion.

Equipment Restrictions
Unless stated otherwise, all AusCycling Victorian Junior Road Series events require riders and equipment to comply with the AusCycling Technical Regulations.
Gear Restrictions
For all junior categories, male and female, the following maximum roll out distances shall apply for:
Please Note: blocking off gears is allowed at these events. This is NOT allowed at National Championships).
Other Equipment Restrictions
For all junior categories U9, U11, U13, U15 & U17 the following equipment restrictions will apply:
1. Handlebars shall be of a standard or “Classic” style (drop handlebar). However, bolt-on handlebar extensions shall be allowed for U15 & U17 in the Individual Time Trial and Team time trial only. Gear and brake mechanisms must not be placed on the extensions.
2. For all events, wheels must have at least 16 spokes. The rim shall be no more than 32mm in depth.
3. Only high-pressure detachable tyres and tubes shall be used. A detachable type tube means the tube is detachable from the tyre casing. Such high-pressure tyres shall be beaded.
Red Light Policy
Any event conducted on open roads require the bikes to have an appropriate red light fitted and operating on either the seat post or right rear seat stay of their bike. The light (steady, not flashing) must be operational during the entire event and visible from 200 metres to the rear.
Age-group/Gender Combinations
The JB11 and JG11 as well as the JB13 and JG13 categories will be combined for racing at every event (separate results).
Tours
Riders need to start and complete each stage to continue in the race. An exemption may be made at the discretion of the event organiser and Chief Commissaire in case of mechanical mishaps or crashes. Riders who are allowed back in the race for the following stage(s) will no longer be contesting the General Classification but remain eligible for stage wins and stage series points.
General Classification in all categories will be based on time unless otherwise noted.
Time Trials

The red light policy applies to any time trial held on open roads.
Time Trial start intervals may vary depending on the event organiser and race schedule. Seeding of the top 10 riders in each category will be based on the current (last year’s for event 1) VJRS standings even if the time trial is not run as stage 1 with the highest-ranked rider starting last. After the top 10 ranked riders all other riders will be seeded in random order.
