New Zealand’s Rebecca Petch has completed a flawless weekend at Sleeman BMX Supercross Track, backing up her Oceania title to win the AusCycling BMX National Round 3 – Brisbane on Sunday.

Carrying on from the previous day’s competition, where she won four races from four starts, the 23-year-old won all her motos in the Superclass Women’s competition and led from start to finish in the final.

It completes an outstanding trans-Tasman trip for the multi-discipline Kiwi, who won the Oceania Team Sprint Championship at Anna Meares Velodrome last week before switching to her 20-inch bike to win across the berms.

Fellow New Zealander Leila Walker clinched the two-spot while Bella May (Frankston BMX Club) finished third to consolidate her lead in the National Cup standings ahead of Gemma-lee Thomas (Castle Hill BMX Club).

The 636 competitors had to grapple with changing weather throughout Saturday’s racing, with typical Queensland rain showers falling in spurts during the afternoon.

In the Superclass Men’s competition, Matt Krasevskis (Pine Rivers BMX Club) mastered the elements to take the win ahead of newly crowned Oceanian champion Bodi Turner (Eastfield BMX Club).

Turner had qualified on top and, in the final, shot off to a quick start. Nevertheless, Krasevskis was able to take the holeshot, open up a sizable lead on the second straight and extend it all the way to the finish.

Former national champion, Alex Cameron (Sydney BMX Club) finished third, a result that propelled him to the top of the AusCycling BMX National Cup standings by 21 points ahead of Oliver Moran (Manning Valley BMX Club).

Junior Superclass

In the Junior Men Superclass, Joshua Jolly (Ballarat-Sebastopol Cycling Club) continued his perfect season, taking his third win from three National Rounds. However, he left it dramatically late, passing New Zealand’s Finn Cogan only in the last berm of the final.

New Zealand’s Lily Greenough enjoyed a comfortable start-to-finish win in the Junior Superclass Women’s final, sealing the victory without dropping a moto.

Jolly extends his lead in the AusCycling BMX National Cup for junior men with a maximum 840 points ahead of Samuel O’Grady (Bendigo BMX Club) and Preston Murray (Happy Valley BMX Club).

With her sixth place on Sunday, Mia Webster (Park Orchards BMX Club) still heads the Junior Superclass Women’s standings. Charlotte Guy (Ashmore BMX Club), with her third consecutive runner-up finish, moved up to second overall.
