Peta Mullens wins 2025 Cyclo-cross National Championships in Ballarat
Aug 16, 2025

Six years after her last cyclo-cross national title, Peta Mullens returned to the top step of the podium with a commanding win at the 2025 AusCycling Cyclo-cross National Championships in Ballarat.
The absence of defending champion Izzy Flint, who was sidelined by illness, ensured a new elite women’s winner would be crowned on the slick fields of Victoria Park.
And it was Mullens, the 2019 champion, who seized control and never let go.

Peta Mullens last won the elite women's title in 2019.
The race began in dramatic fashion as hail swept across the course just moments before the elite field rolled away.
Zoe Davison set a fast tempo in the opening lap, but Mullens fresh from racing in the United States moved quickly to the front and extended her lead with every circuit.
“This was my last cyclo-cross race two years ago and I had a bit of PTSD coming in,” Mullens admitted.
“I haven’t cornered on this bike in a few years, so I was getting a little more efficient as the race went on.
"It’s nice to win another national title. I didn’t think it would be in cyclo-cross, but I’ll take that.”
For Mullens, the victory marked her 14th national championship across multiple disciplines, adding yet another line to her storied career.

Davison held strong to claim the silver medal, while Fiona Morris found form on the big stage to secure bronze.
In the Under 23 women’s race, Ruby Taylor dominated despite a challenging start, finishing comfortably ahead of Sophie Sutton and Madeline Wasserbaech.

Ruby Taylor surprised the field racing to a win in the U23 category.
The Under 19 title went to Alana Fletcher, who continued her unbeaten run from the National Series with another decisive victory.
