Junior and masters national champions crowned on the Sunshine Coast

Junior individual time trial winners at the 2026 AusCycling Junior & Masters Road National Championships at Yandina on the Sunshine Coast

Twenty-four new national champions have been crowned today in bluebird conditions at the 2026 AusCycling Junior & Masters Road National Championships on the Sunshine Coast.

A total of 255 riders from across the country started today's individual time trial at Yandina, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Under sunny skies with mild winds, under-15 riders Lincoln Johns (NSW) and Juliette McDonald (Carnegie Caulfield CC) were the first to claim the green-and-gold jerseys over the 9.4-kilometre course.

On the 15-kilometre course, New South Wales' Juno Smith (Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club) won the under-17 women's category and posted the fastest women's time of the day, clocking 23:25.57 at an average of 38.4kph.

Juliette McDonald covered 9.4km in 15 minutes 37 seconds (36.1kph).

Sunshine Coast local Beau Mullins (QLD) made full use of his opportunity on home roads, putting nearly 40 seconds into his nearest rival to blitz the under-17 men's field in a time of 20:03.42.

However, the fastest men's time of the day belonged to fellow local Raphael Amoroux of (Sunshine Coast CC), who covered the rolling out-and-back course in a time of 19:53.42, averaging 45.2kph.

The 2026 AusCycling Junior & Masters Road National Championships continue tomorrow with criterium races at Girraween Sports Complex, Noosa Heads.
