Individual Time Trials
Twenty-four new national champions were crowned in bluebird conditions on Thursday at the 2026 AusCycling Junior & Masters Road National Championships on the Sunshine Coast.
A total of 255 riders from across the country started the individual time trial at Yandina, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Under sunny skies with mild winds, under-15 riders Lincoln Johns (NSW) and Juliette McDonald (Carnegie Caulfield CC) were the first to claim the green-and-gold jerseys over the 9.4-kilometre course.
On the 15-kilometre course, New South Wales' Juno Smith (Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club) won the under-17 women's category and posted the fastest women's time of the day, clocking 23:25.57 at an average of 38.4kph.
Juliette McDonald covered 9.4km in 15 minutes 37 seconds (36.1kph).
Sunshine Coast local Beau Mullins (QLD) made full use of his opportunity on home roads, putting nearly 40 seconds into his nearest rival to blitz the under-17 men's field in a time of 20:03.42.
However, the fastest men's time of the day belonged to fellow local Raphael Amoroux of (Sunshine Coast CC), who covered the rolling out-and-back course in a time of 19:53.42, averaging 45.2kph.

Criteriums
On Friday, local riders had plenty to celebrate on the first day of criterium racing at Girraween Sports Complex, Noosa Heads.
The home state won three out of four junior categories, including a Queensland podium sweep in the under-15 women led by Gold Coast's Adele Dickson. Sunshine Coast rider Beau Mullins doubled up on yesterday's time trial win, putting several bike-lengths into the field in the final sprint.
The local club also picked up wins in the masters races, with Tim de Vries and Gregory Ball winning the men's 7 and 8 criteriums respectively.
The criteriums continued on Saturday with the remainder of the masters categories, running concurrently with the first of the road races at Corbould Park. Sydney riders Meg Phillips (Manly Warringah CC) and Nicole Oh (Sydney Uni Velo Club) doubled up on their victories for the weekend.

Road Races
Saturday saw the road races begin on a flat, but testing, 5.3-kilometre circuit at Corbould Park. Gold Coast riders Carol Fulton and Clare Johnston made it a clean sweep of the national titles in their masters categories before the juniors took the course for their final race of the weekend.
Asha Crofts won the bunch sprint in the under-15 women's race before the under-15 men proved this was not just a sprinters' course. Aggressive riders attacked and attacked again until five riders forced their way clear, leaving the field in tatters behind them. Austen Decker won the sprint from the breakaway to chalk up another victory for Victoria.
The under-17 women's race was marred by a large crash around halfway that held up a large section of the peloton, leaving 10 riders in the front group. Juno Smith recovered from a crash of her own and, after chasing back to the leaders, won the reduced sprint in a photo finish to add to her time trial win.

The under-17 men's race saw a huge peloton of 71 riders take on the course at breakneck speed. A late solo attack by South Australia's Thomas Brinkley was reeled in with 250 metres to go, and NSW's Joshua Moore took a clear victory in the bunch sprint.

On Sunday, the National Championships were wrapped up with the final masters road races.
On another warm, picture-perfect day, Christopher Miller (Centennial Park CC), Shane JOHNSON (Norwood CC) and Scott Burrow (Centennial Park CC) were among the men's riders who claimed victories from solo breakaways. Meanwhile, Meg Phillips and Nicole Oh completed their outstanding triple crowns, winning all three of their events across the week.
