Jun 30, 2023

Another weekend of international racing has been locked in for the upcoming summer of cycling, with 2024 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race dates announced.

The world-class one-day classic cycling event, which features the UCI WorldTour and UCI Women's WorldTour Deakin University race, will weave its way through the scenic roads of the Geelong, Bellarine and Surf Coast regions over the January 27-28 weekend.

The scheduling will again see Australia’s premier one-day classics take centre stage and launch an action-packed international cycling calendar alongside the Santos Tour Down Under.

The men’s and women’s classics are the major drawcards in the multi-day cycling festival and will again see Geelong’s waterfront abuzz with excitement and energy for spectators, families and cyclists alike.

Presented by Visit Victoria, the cycling extravaganza will again feature the hugely popular TAC People’s Ride, which includes an iconic climb up Challambra, and the much-loved Family Ride along the Geelong Waterfront.

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos said the region was looking forward to seeing another sea of spectators in Geelong and the Surf Coast for the 2024 edition of the race.

"This incredible weekend of cycling will bring thousands of visitors to the region and boost business over the long weekend while also showcasing the stunning scenery of the Great Ocean Road to viewers from around the world," Dimopoulos said.

The 2023 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race was won by Team DSM's Marius Mayrhofer in the men, and FDJ-Suez's Loes Adegeest in the women.

Registrations are already open for the 2024 TAC People's Ride, an opportunity to pedal world-famous roads on two wheels and ride alongside Australian Tour de France champion Cadel Evans.
