CX series settles in the Sunshine State

Jun 12, 2024

The National Cyclo-cross carnival will be putting the tent up this weekend at Victoria Park in Brisbane for Round 3 and 4 of the series.

Sunny skies, a fast and different course structure each round is what awaits age groupers and elite riders.

With two victories to open the season in Adelaide, Tristan Nash is hoping to again do a clean sweep in the elite men.

However, he will have to stave off Chris Aitken who enjoys the Queensland courses having won both rounds in Ipswich last year.

The current national champion will be out to get his season back on track after missing the top three in Adelaide.

Dom Paolilli and Nicholas Smith, second and third overall will also be at the pointy end of the pack as they again see out a spot on the podium.

A new winner will emerge in the elite women with the current overall leader and national champion Katherine Hosking missing from the start list.

As is Miranda Griffiths a round five winner at Ipswich last year and currently second overall.

Their absence opens the door for Australian representative Fiona Morris who has an opportunity to move higher up the overall standings with impressive results on both days.

The Bright local is only 27 points behind in third place and will be keen to make her mark on the series in Queensland.

The first race will go off at 9:30am with the Men’s Open/U15/U17 and Expert riders.

Elite races will begin from 12:15pm.
