The Crankworx Mystery Event has finally been revealed with Crankworx Cairns welcoming the brand-new Crankworx Full Tilt event, debuting, May 25. As part of the continued evolution of the Crankworx World Tour, this new competitive format is designed to push multi-discipline athletes to their limits, offering a unique elimination-style race that will test speed, strategy, and technical skill.
Crankworx Full Tilt follows in the footsteps of the now-retired Speed & Style, taking its place as a key battleground for the King & Queen of Crankworx contenders. Much like knights and knightesses in medieval jousting – charging full speed, lances tilted forward, fully committed to the fight – athletes go head-to-head, battling for crucial points in pursuit of the prestigious Crankworx titles.
In each heat of this invite-only event, three riders will race head-to-head on the newly designed course, with only the top two advancing to the next round. Riders will be timed throughout the competition, and if they improve on their qualifying time, their ranking will be updated accordingly. This format ensures that every run counts, challenging competitors to perform at their absolute best.
The challenging course, designed by trail-building pioneers Glen Jacobs and Remy Morton at World Trails, uses the remnants of the former Speed & Style track and brings a new level of innovation and intensity.
According to Jacobs, the new course offers multiple riding choices and leaves the legacy of new styles of trails for the public who will be able to enjoy different recreational standards on the same trail.
It is exciting to launch a new global mountain biking product here in Cairns that will deliver yet another reason for the Cairns community to attend Crankworx Cairns in 2025.
Inaugural King of Crankworx and home-grown mountain biking world champion Mick Hannah said he was looking forward to competing in the Crankworx Full Tilt along with the Downhill and Dual Slalom.
Crankworx Full Tilt will be much more competitive with three riders at a time on the course battling for the same position, making the competition more intense as it gets closer to the final. The course is accessible from the venue with the finish right in the middle so it will be an exciting atmosphere with the crowd being able to watch the end battle.
Crankworx Cairns is set to bring tropical adrenaline back to Tropical North Queensland from May 21–25, 2025. Festival passes are currently available here.
