AusCycling pays tribute to Connor Lambert
Jul 14, 2023
AusCycling is immensely saddened by the tragic death of Australian cyclist Connor Lambert, 25, during a training ride in Belgium on Wednesday.
Our hearts and thoughts are with Connor’s family and loved ones, the junior riders he has been supporting in Belgium, and the Western Australian cycling community.
“Connor was a prolific winner of state championships in Western Australia. He represented WA at the national level on multiple occasions,” said Matthew Poyner, AusCycling’s State Operations Manager in Western Australia.
“He was an excellent road and track rider who could read a race situation perfectly when the finish line approached. As a Bunbury boy, he also spent many years racing in Europe on an Irish racing licence.
“He will be remembered fondly by his friends and teammates and all who were fortunate enough to come into contact with him. He was always prepared to give back to the sport he enjoyed and loved.”
We appreciate that this news has come as a great shock to our community. Support is available 24/7 through Lifeline (lifeline.org.au or 13 11 14).
