The domestic BMX Freestyle season got underway on the weekend at the AusCycling National Freestyle Centre in Carrara on the Gold Coast, with a tough field of riders looking to start off with a win. There were plenty of close scores across the Amateur and Elite categories, with some new faces turning heads.
Alec Danelutti won the elite men's final after coming back from injury, just 1.67 points ahead of Samual Grace, who was coming off some strong results in Europe. Both riders enjoyed the UCI C1-level hit-out before they head to China for a UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup round in October.
In the elite women’s final, Olympic medallist Natalya Diehm took the win with her trademark powerful riding, also just 1.67 points clear of Sarah Nicki.
In the amateur girls' category, Bianca Martin took the win after stepping up a category, closely followed by Evie Simpson. In the amateur boys, we saw the day’s closest finish, with just 1.33 points separating the top two. Rhylan Seymour took the win, narrowly edging out Felix Stokes.
AusCycling will announce more BMX Freestyle Events for the 2026/27 season soon.
