Australian BMX Hall of Fame announces 2024 Sam Willoughby Medal nominees

The Australian BMX Hall of Fame has announced the Sam Willoughby Medal nominees for 2024.

The Sam Willoughby Medal recognises outstanding performance by an Australian BMX racer over a 12-month period. The award is open to anyone with a valid AusCycling race licence across all ages and classes.

The award considers international, national and state based results, and past winners include Thomas Tucker (2018 and 2020), Jordan Callum (2019), Teya Rufus (2022), and Jayden Bradbrook (2023).

The 2024 Sam Willoughby Medal nominees:

Harvey Brooks (Knox BMX): W1 Boys 14 2024 UCI BMX World Challenge. W4 Cruiser Boys 13-14 2024 UCI BMX World Challenge, 2nd place 13 Boys 2023 AusCycling BMX Racing National Championship.

Josh Jolly (Ballarat-Sebastopol Cycling Club): 2023 AusCycling Junior Men National Champion, 2024 UCI Junior Men World Champion, 5th place overall Under 23 Men 2024 UCI BMX Racing World Cup.

Maya Ellis (Frankston BMX): W1 Girls 13 2024 UCI BMX World Challenge, 2nd place 12 Girls 2023 AusCycling BMX Racing National Championship.

Teya Rufus (Maryborough BMX): 2024 UCI Junior Women World Champion, 2024 UCI Under 23 Women BMX Racing World Cup Champion, 2024 Junior Women Oceania Continental Champion, 3rd place Junior Women 2023 AusCycling National Championship, 3rd place Superclass Women 2023 AusCycling National Championship

Saya Sakakibara (Southlake-Illawarra BMX): 2024 UCI Elite Women BMX Racing World Cup Champion, 2023 AusCycling Elite Women National Champion, 2023 UCI Elite Women BMX Racing World Cup Champion.
