What started as a small social riding group in 2010 has grown into one of Queensland’s most welcoming cycling communities.
The Highfields Rollers Cycling Club, based in the Toowoomba region, west of Brisbane, was recently recognised for its contribution to the local community.
In January 2026, the club received the Highfields Community Group Award from the Toowoomba Regional Council, recognising years of dedication to creating a safe, inclusive and social environment for riders of all abilities.
Founded by a group of local cyclists looking to bring people together through riding, the club has grown to 39 members and hosts weekly social rides catering to a range of experience levels.
Beyond regular rides, the club has built a strong culture around safety, community and support.

The club holds a number of regular social rides for all levels of riders.
"Many people do not like riding alone, so we offer a welcoming supportive environment, helping new riders learn basic group riding skills," said Highfields Rollers Cycling Club secretary Steve Wilson.
Alongside promoting participation, the club has advocated for improved cycling safety measures, including the installation of cycle signage on local highways. Its members have also supported a range of charitable causes, including fundraising initiatives for local charities.
Highfields Rollers members are regular participants at major cycling events across Queensland, including Ride the Range, Tour de Brisbane, Brisbane to Gold Coast and Brisbane to the Bay.
