Three athletes have been selected to attend the UCI World Cycling Centre's Cyclo-cross training camp to be held in Aigle, Switzerland in October.

Alica Reynolds, Alanna van de Hoef and Campbell McConnell will join riders from across the world for the weeklong intensive camp at the hub of world cycling.

Athletes will take part in sessions across a wide range of topics including skill development, training, cross-training, tactics, strategy, all with the goal of improving their performance level.

Campbell McConnell is the Junior Men CX National Champion.

McConnell, who took out the Junior Men’s National Championship title at Ballarat last weekend can’t wait for the opportunity.

“I am honoured to have been selected to be part of the UCI cyclocross training camp in October.

"I can’t wait for the chance to spend a week in Switzerland in UCI heartland to learn from the UCI coaches and other young CX riders.

"The facilities look amazing, and the program gives a comprehensive overview of training and race preparation.

"I’m looking forward to the chance to improve my skills and the opportunity to race in a Swiss national CX race on the final day, the Victorian said.

After her National Championships bronze in Ballarat, Reynolds will get her chance to work with the some of the elite athletes in the sport.

Alicia Reynolds finished third in the Junior Women CX National Championships.

“I am looking forward to meeting the coaches Eva Lechner (ITA) and Edward Collins (UK).

“I am excited to learn new skills and tricks around CX. I am also excited to meet the other athletes.

“To be able to travel to Switzerland and train for a sport I really love.

For van de Hoef, a noted mountain biker, she wants to expand her capabilities across other disciplines.

"It’s also my last year within the UCI camp age bracket (16-20) so why not apply.

"Going to come back with not only some great memories but also new skills and knowledge to help me to continue to improve within the sport," the U23 bronze National Championship medallist commented.

The camp will conclude with a national cyclo-cross race on Sunday 13th October.
