AusCycling unveils 2024 road calendar

AusCycling has announced its road racing calendar for 2024.

Beginning on January 3 with the Federation University Road National Championships in Ballarat and ending with the Boxing Day Crits south of Adelaide, the year will feature a total of 180 race days across all national, state and territory events.

Six rounds are slated for the AusCycling National Road Series, including the return of the Tour of the Tropics. The series begins in February at the Melbourne to Warrnambool before heading north for the Tour de Brisbane and Grafton to Inverell. Stage racing makes up the back half of the year with the Tours of Gippsland, the Tropics, and Tasmania.

The AusCycling Masters and Junior National Championships will be held in Loxton, on the banks of the Murray River. It’ll be the first road national championships in South Australia since 2019.

For under-19 riders, the National Junior 19 Series, now in its third season, returns for three events – in Canberra, Brisbane and Loxton.

Australia will once again host two qualifying events for the UCI Gran Fondo World Series: Tour de Brisbane and Amy’s Gran Fondo. The latter will have the added significance of being the first qualifier for the 2025 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, which are due to be hosted on home soil in Victoria’s Great Ocean Road region.

“We’re excited to announce a huge schedule of road events for next year,” said Kipp Kaufmann, AusCycling’s Executive General Manager for Sport.

“There is a plethora of race opportunities for junior riders, elite riders and masters all across the country.

“Australian road cycling continues to build from strength to strength, and 2024 shapes up to be another fantastic year.”

Today’s announcement includes state and territory championships and state series events in South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, NSW, Western Australia, Tasmania and the ACT.
