Aug 2, 2021

AUSCYCLING is pleased to confirm the completion of its leadership team with the arrivals of Nick Hannan and Matt Pinkney.

Hannan, who will lead Government Strategy, and Pinkney, who is responsible for Media, join an eight-member Executive Leadership Team responsible for driving one of the biggest organisational changes in Australia’s sporting history.

AusCycling CEO, Marne Fechner, said she was delighted to add the experience and skills of the pair to the organisation.

‘’Matt and Nick are key pieces of the leadership puzzle and will bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion to AusCycling at a critical point in its evolution,’’ she said.

‘’The teams that they lead will both complement and amplify the work we’re doing to ensure that AusCycling is a powerful and dynamic force for all forms of riding in Australia.’’

Hannan, who trained as a lawyer, joins AusCycling after performing several senior roles in government and the private sector where he specialised in ministerial advice and advocacy across a range of areas including regional infrastructure, sporting facilities and the needs of remote communities.

‘’AusCycling is a tremendously exciting and ambitious project,” he said.

“Riding bikes has always been a great Australian past-time and we have an opportunity to unite and serve the bike riding community in a way that hasn’t been possible before.”

Pinkney is a Walkley-award winning journalist who performed several senior editorial and management roles at News Corporation before becoming the founding Head of Content at AFL Media. He most recently spent two years building the content and corporate affairs teams at Netball Australia.

‘’Joining an organisation with a start-up mentality is a fantastic challenge,’’ he said. ‘’Cycling is a wonderful sport with a rich legacy and an amazing potential. I look forward to working with everyone at AusCycling to ensure that all forms of cycling can grow and thrive.’’
