AusCycling is pleased to announce the athletes categorised as emerging and developing in the disciplines of BMX freestyle, BMX racing, mountain bike XCO, para cycling, road and track for 2026–27.

The AusCycling emerging and developing categorisation lists contain 108 athletes for the next 12 months, an increase of six from the previous year.

Those riders join a further 87 podium-level categorised athletes in the AusCycling performance pathway network.

AusCycling Director of Performance Pathways Donna Rae-Szalinski said "it is exciting and encouraging to see the growth and diversity in pathway athletes meeting the standards for categorisation".

"The same can be said for newly categorised athletes at emerging and developing," she added.

"Of the 32 new athletes categorised, their discipline spread is quite even, as is the national institute network (NIN) spread."

Athlete categorisation is a system used to identify, track, and prioritise talented athletes with the greatest potential to contribute to Australia winning medals at the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

World Championships and Commonwealth Games are viewed as key benchmark events on the path towards the Olympics or Paralympics.

AusCycling follows the National Athlete Categorisation Framework (NACF) developed by the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).

This framework categorises athletes across five stages, from emerging to podium, based on their current performance and future potential.

The next round of emerging and developing categorisations will take place in April 2027.

The next round of podium-level categorisations will take place later this year.
