AusCycling 2025 BMX Freestyle calendar unveiled

Oct 2, 2024

The Gold Coast will again host Australia’s pinnacle BMX Freestyle event, as revealed in AusCycling’s 2025 BMX Freestyle National calendar announced today.

The National BMX Freestyle Facility at Carrara will host the 2025 AusCycling BMX Freestyle National Championship from February 15-16. The venue has hosted several major events including the 2023 national championship and a UCI World Cup round in 2022.

Since it was built in 2021, the facility has earned a world-class reputation, and with Olympic medallists, world champions, and world cup athletes all expected to compete for the national title, the level of competition should be nothing short of spectacular.

In another win for south-east Queensland, the BMX Freestyle Oceania Continental Championships will again be held at The Village Indoor Skatepark south of Brisbane. 2025 will be the fourth consecutive year the venue has hosted the event.

AusCycling is also pleased to announce the 2025 BMX Freestyle State Championships for Victoria and Queensland. These are the peak events for BMX Freestyle in those states, and will carry UCI Class 1 status, with Elite, Amateur, Junior and Masters categories being contested.

Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medallist, Natalya Diehm:

“I’m really looking forward to finishing off the year strong at the 2024 World Championships in Abu Dhabi after my bronze medal finish in the Paris Olympics.”

“We’ve reconfigured the outdoor training course where the 2025 Nationals will be held, and the new layout is super fun! Lots of new lines and transfers to unlock which should make for a big domestic event, and really exciting for not just the riders but for the spectators and show they’ll see.”

“It’s so awesome to see more and more events are starting to happen here in Australia, and 2025 looks to be our best year yet for participation and grassroots! My favourite part is how many girls we have gearing up for next year and to see their level of progression from the past few years in our development programme.”

AusCycling Head of Events, BMX Dale Percy:

“The 2025 calendar is a fantastic outcome for BMX Freestylers. The National Facility is the envy of the global BMX Freestyle community, and the venue will no doubt again attract some of the best riders from across Australia for the national championship.”

“State championships in Victoria and Queensland also get the recognition they deserve as UCI C1 events, and south-east Queensland is especially blessed, with no less than four feature events on the calendar. It’s wonderful that pros and amateurs alike now have more opportunities to participate in an increasing number of organised competitions.”

“I also hope our female participation continues to grow. Natalya Diehm inspired us all with her incredible bronze medal in Paris that proved anything can happen if you never give up. I encourage all young girls and women to enter and give it their all at these events.”

The 2025 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships will be held in Riyahd, Saudi Arabia from November 4-8. The 2025 UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup schedule is yet to be announced.

All dates and venues are subject to change.
