From the oldest track racing event in the world, to crowning international champions, the 2026-27 AusCycling track cycling season is packed full of events for riders and fans around Australia. We’ve pulled together five key events you won’t want to miss this summer!
1. 2026 AusCycling Omnium National Championships
Friday 18th December | DISC, Melbourne, Victoria

Four races. One champion.
The omnium is track cycling’s all-round test, combining endurance, speed, tactics, and consistency into a single event. Riders accumulate points across multiple races, creating plenty of twists and turns towards the race to the top of the podium. If you’re looking for non-stop action, this is aday not to miss, with the best of Australia’s elite and under-19 endurance riders on show.
2. Quest Ivanhoe 129th Austral Wheelrace
Saturday 19th December | DISC, Melbourne, Victoria

The world’s oldest and Australia’s most iconic event returns for its 129th edition. The Austral Wheelrace has been captivating crowds since the 1800s and remains one of the most prestigious handicapped races in the world. Expect thrilling finishes as history and skilful cycling come together at Melbourne’s DISC Velodrome.
3. 2026 AusCycling Madison National Championships
Saturday 19th December | DISC, Melbourne, Victoria

Fast, chaotic, and incredibly exciting, the Madison is often regarded as track cycling’s most entertaining race. Teams of two riders work together, tagging each other into the race at speed, while battling for points and position. It’s a fan favourite for a reason, and a fitting finale for an action-packed week in Melbourne.
4. 2027 Oceania Track Championships
Tuesday 16th – Saturday 20th February | Location TBC

The best riders from across Oceania will go head-to-head in pursuit of continental glory and precious UCI points. With athletes representing their country, expect fierce competition and world-class racing as the best of the Oceania region battle it out on the boards.
5. 2027 AusCycling Track National Championships
Tuesday 2nd – Saturday 6th March | Anna Meares Velodrome, Brisbane, Queensland

The crème de la crème of the Australian track cycling calendar returns to Brisbane’s world-class Anna Meares Velodrome for the 11th consecutive year in 2027. National champions will be crowned this week across elite, under-19 and para cycling events as Australia’s fastest riders compete for coveted green and gold jerseys. This is your chance to see the country’s top talent in action, one year out from LA 2028.
