Melbourne to host 2026 AusCycling Trials National Championships

AusCycling can confirm the 2026 AusCycling Trials National Championships will head to Melbourne for the first time, with Oakleigh Motorcycle Club in Clayton South to host the event on March 28.

The move follows two years at Mt Stromlo in Canberra and brings the Championships to a purpose-built venue featuring old-school, technical obstacles that will test riders across every level.

With all sections set in a compact area, spectators can expect close viewing and a lively atmosphere.

The event will again cater for riders from novice through to elite, reinforcing that Trials is open to all skill levels.

New and developing riders are encouraged to enter, with novice and sport sections designed to be welcoming and rideable on a mountain bike.

Recent years have shown what’s possible, with cross-country riders Katherine Hosking and Zoe Cuthbert each winning a Novice national title on their first attempt, competing on standard XC bikes.

Basic trials skills continue to prove valuable across all types of riding. Low-speed control, balance and precision translate directly to mountain biking, commuting and everyday bike handling, making the Championships an ideal entry point for riders looking to build confidence.

Elite competition will again draw the country’s best talent, following a strong run of performances from riders including eight-time national champion Nathan Mummery and Matthew Harding who competed at the 2025 UCI Urban Cycling Championships in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
