2025 BMX Racing National Series launches with opening rounds in Shepparton
Apr 25, 2025

The National BMX Racing Series returns this weekend with the opening two rounds of the 2025 AusCycling BMX Racing National Series taking place at the Shepparton Cycling and BMX Track in Victoria.
The venue has previously hosted the 2023 BMX National Championships and the 2020 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup.
Rounds one and two of the BMX Racing National Series are the first event back at the Shepparton Cycling and BMX Track since the construction of its new BMX Multi Use Events Pavilion.
Shepparton BMX Club will host more than 730 riders from across Australia and the Tasman with the National Series also attracting some of New Zealand's best.
The national series is the first taste of national competition for the year, as they look towards the start of the UCI World Cup season starting in June and the World Championships a month later in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Superclass Women
Teya Rufus (Maryborough BMX Club) the 2024 junior world champion will be looking to pick up where she finished last year. A win in the final round last year as well as the national title, the rising star will be looking to improve on bronze at the Oceania Championships.
Looking to go one better than last year, where she finished the series runner up, Imogen Healy (Tea Tree Gully BMX Club) is back. Recently crowned U23 Oceania Champion Isabella Schramm (Ashmore BMX Club), Stephanie Alexander (Knox BMX Club) who claimed the junior series title last year are also among the names to watch.
From across the Tasman Lily Greenough the junior Oceania Champion adds an international flavour to the competition.
Superclass Men
The strong men’s field is packed with former winners, experienced hands and rising stars with hot form.
2024 series champion Andrew Hughes (Macarthur BMX Club) will be looking to pick up where he finished last year as he looks to a title defence.
Jesse Asmus (Nerang BMX Club) and Oliver Moran (Manning Valley BMX Club) who claimed silver and bronze respectively at the Oceania Championships in February will be hungry to find the top step of the podium.
2016 Olympian Bodi Turner (Eastfield BMX Club) is always a name to watch and Joel Marsh (Happy Valley BMX Club) and AJ Donald (Hawkesbury Hornets BMX Club) the under 23 and junior Oceania Champions add further competitive flavour to the competition.
Racing will be streamed live across both rounds on SBS on Demand.
Round one also serves as the Mighty 11 Qualifiers, which will determine the top four male and female riders to earn selection to represent Australia in the Mighty 11s Test Team against New Zealand
